TDCSS EMPLOYEE CODE OF ETHICS
This code complements but does not replace policies, procedures and codes of ethics established by individual programs and relevant professional associations.
1. Staff will be aware that their primary responsibility is to the persons served.
2. Staff will respect the persons served by maintaining an objective, non-possessive, professional relationship at all times.
3. Staff will maintain an appropriate boundary between their work and their personal lives. Staff will not enter into financial, personal or sexual relationships with persons served in their programs.
4. Staff will not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, political belief, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, gender, sexual orientation, age or criminal record.
5. Staff will ensure the confidentiality of all records, materials and communications concerning persons served. Confidentiality may not apply where there is a serious danger of harm to persons served or others.
6. Staff will inform the manager if there appears to be a conflict of interest between the needs of the persons served and the agency and/or the employee
7. Staff will accurately present their qualifications, skills, abilities, expertise and limitations.
8. Staff will take personal responsibility for continued professional growth through further education and training.
9. Staff will respect the rights, views and competence of their co-workers and other service providers.
10. Staff will use agency resources for the purposes for which they are intended.
11. Staff will be aware of and comply with the current TDCSS and Program Policies and Procedures.
12. Staff will recognize that they represent TDCSS and their program in the community and will act so as to preserve the good reputation of the employer.
