TDCSS Persons Served Bill of Rights

• Persons served have a right to reasonable access to appropriate services.
• Persons served have the right to participate in selecting goals and objectives of their service plan. Persons served also have the right to a reasonable service plan and to a complete explanation of a proposed service plan.
• Persons served have the right to be part of, and informed about, the evaluation of their situation, in order that they may benefit from and make decisions based on this information. Persons served also have the right to know how long the intervention is likely to last.
• Persons served have the right to refuse services.
• Persons served have the right to maintain privacy and especially to have the Confidentiality Policy adhered to at all times.
• Persons served have the right to protection of private information according to PIPA (Personal Information Protection Act)
• Persons served have a right to know what records will be kept and who will have access to them.
• Persons served have the right to know in advance about termination of services.
• Persons served have a right to receive as much notice as possible of a changed or cancelled appointment or group and to have an appointment or group session start on time.
• Persons served have the right to file a grievance or appeal a decision of the organization or staff members without retaliation. Responses and resolutions to grievances filed shall be completed in a timely fashion.
• Persons served have a right to access their file according to the legal process under the Freedom of Information Standards Act.
• Persons served have the right to receive respectful interactions from the organization or staff members. Client rights will be protected and promoted throughout the prohibition of physical or sexual abuse and physical punishment and the prohibition of psychological abuse, including humiliating, threatening and exploiting actions.
• Persons served have a right to receive service that is sensitive to their cultural needs concerning social, psychological, physical and spiritual factors.
